    Conversation’s a Two-Way Street – Religion and Politics

If I had to give advice to others though, I would certainly say, they ought to remember, conversation’s a two-way street. You give, and you get, if you’re not interested in both, you’ll probably have discussions that are far less fruitful.

In Defense of Repugnance – Religion and Politics

For the causes stated, I would argue that letting people hold forth when you’re able—even when what they choose to express, seems to be of no value, or is even seemingly problematic—is potentially a much more valuable thing, than you might recognize without diving a little deeper, than most are prone to. If you manage nothing else, you may just help a person in despair, to feel a little better, and it’s possible, you might accomplish a great deal more.

  • Christianity, Standards and Principles – Religion and Politics

Christianity, Standards and Principles – Religion and Politics

It’s really pretty simple. Christians ought to support what the Bible, and the Spirit of God, tell them to. Since the two shouldn’t diverge, that should mean, calling things like homosexuality sin, refusing the idea of Christian homosexual marriage, and treating gay people, as they might anyone else in sin (which is an awful lot of us). That shouldn’t involve things like, doing the people in question harm, or even deriding them. It should include compassion, love, and concern.

  • Talk is Cheap – Religion and Politics

Talk is Cheap – Religion and Politics

My simple message to you? Talk is cheap. That works for those around you. It works for politicians, too. If you ignore this reality, I can pretty much promise you’ll find yourself wondering what went wrong at some point.

Don’t Think, Just Do – Religion and Politics

You may think you can go through life, doing without thinking as a default response; and maybe just maybe, you’ll succeed in not meeting with terrible results, for yourself and others. Then again, maybe not. Are you willing to take that chance?

    Strongman – Religion and Politics

My message in this piece? Just because a person can be said to be a strongman, don’t assume evil on their part.

More on the Wane – Religion and Politics

I hope it’s obvious what I’m trying to make clear by what I’m saying here. There’s little doubt that COVID-19 is going to continue to have an effect, as long as we proceed along our current trajectory. If we choose instead, to open things up and let it run its course, while protecting our high-risk population, given a couple of weeks to a month, we’d almost certainly be more or less out of the woods. On our current course, who knows how long things will drag out, and on that path, I believe we’ll reap an untold toll of loss, on a vast number of fronts. I doubt seriously I’m alone in that.

Foreign Interference – Religion and Politics

You can try to argue that question however you please, but to me, the answer is simple. They cannot compete. If they could, their model for operation would be the one winning the day. It’s just not that complex.

  • Identity Includes Choice – Religion and Politics

Identity Includes Choice – Religion and Politics

So for those who assume there’s no choice in identity, you can be assured, I disagree. Further, for those who decide some of those choices don’t work in contravention to one’s identity—and often to the definite benefit of the person with that identity—I very much suggest you consult a former drug or alcohol addict. I hope my points here are clear.

  • Talking Politics – Religion and Politics

Talking Politics – Religion and Politics

So is it unreasonable to talk politics or religion? Not at all! Care should be taken with how you say what you say. Further, you should be at least as interested, if not more so, in ensuring what you say is true and correct, than when discussing any other thing. And remember, if what you seek to support politically isn’t in line with your spiritual understanding, you may want to reconsider who or what you’re putting weight behind. None of this means you should lash out, or be ill-behaved in stating your case.
