Takeaways for this Piece: 1. All “facts” expressed in this piece are my opinions. Where I’d love to have data that support what I say, they’re very hard to come by. 2. In my experience, most folks couched as Autistic (probably more than 85%) are Level 1 or “Mild” 3. It’s my contention that Autism is a “handy label” and not much more. 4. As a rule, Autism is not something to be “cured,” but how folks are. 5. A large part of the reason the rates of Autism diagnosis have “skyrocketed,” is folks who previously would not have been diagnosed Autistic, now are (and again, most are Level 1).

You want to celebrate Christmas? You think it’s reasonable to glorify Santa Claus, or romanticize him in the doing of it? That’s your choice (however silly I might see it as being). For my part though, I’m more concerned about people’s exposure to Jesus, and their understanding of Him.

If you’re a rightist, you’ll challenge folks with whom you disagree on the basis of at least perceived facts and ideas. This does not tend to be true for folks on the left.
